The Hamptons Dance Project, in association with LTV Studios, will return to Fireplace Lodge in Springs for its eighth season with performances Friday through Sunday at 6 p.m.
This year’s program features a collaboration between Rozzi, a singer and songwriter, and James Whiteside, a principal dancer with the American Ballet Theatre, of Rozzi’s song “Joshua Tree,” set to choreography by Whiteside. The longtime friends first presented the piece with Hamptons Dance Project during its second season.
Performed outdoors on a private waterfront property overlooking Gardiner’s Bay, the show will include a performance by Rozzi of two original songs from “Fig Tree,” her recently released album. David Evans, the dance project’s music director, has worked with her on the arrangements.
Based in Los Angeles, Rozzi has collaborated with Nile Rodgers, Billie Eilish, Kendrick Lamar, Sheryl Crow, and PJ Morton, and toured with Maroon 5, Kelly Clarkson, and Joss Stone. According to XSNoize, “Rozzi’s latest album is a defining moment in her career, and one born from sheer talent and good old-fashioned hard work. ‘Fig Tree’ is an intoxicating collection of sumptuous soul-pop songs that have been beautifully arranged and exquisitely delivered.”
Also on the program are works by two choreographers, Jorma Elo and Justin Peck, a Tony Award-winner; two ballets by Whiteside, and works by the choreographers Duncan Lyle and Lar Lubovitch. Jared Alexander, a tap artist, will return for his third season, and Evans will accompany Lubovitch’s ballet.
The large cast includes other artists from the American Ballet Theatre and other guest performers.
“We are thrilled to be returning to Fireplace Lodge,” said Jose Sebastian, the project’s artistic director. “I’ve danced on stages all over the world, and this is without doubt one of my favorite performance spaces. It’s become a home for us in every sense of the word.”
General admission tickets are $150. Including a 5 p.m. reception, the cost is $200. Because the event will take place outdoors and parking is a short walk from the stage, comfortable shoes, insect repellent, and sunscreen have been recommended. In case of rain, the performance will be held at LTV Studios in Wainscott.
