East Hampton Town's senior citizens center, on Springs-Fireplace Road in East Hampton, has been temporarily shuttered following several cases of Covid-19 among program attendees and staff.

A statement from Town Hall on Wednesday said that the center is expected to reopen on May 2 following a deep cleaning. Regular participants in the center's programs will be notified, and takeout meal service will be offered to those in need.

The statement adds that the suspension of in-person services was determined to be prudent, to protect those who use the center.
