Meredith Spolarich “looked super strong,” her coach, Yani Cuesta, said by email Monday, in amassing 1,554 points, more than any of her competitors, in the pentathlon field events at Ward Melville High School on May 21.

Spolarich, a Pierson (Sag Harbor) High School senior who competes with East Hampton’s girls track and field team, and who is to attend the University of Virginia in the fall, high-jumped 4 feet 11 3/4 inches, a season-best, long-jumped 15 feet 8 1/4 inches, a personal record, and put the shot 28 feet 9 3/4 inches, also a personal record.

The county meet’s Class B track events are to be held at Kings Park High School on May 25. On Cuesta’s squad, besides Spolarich, will be Leslie Samuel, Ryleigh O’Donnell, Dylan Cashin, Kaili Moore, Becca Trowbridge, Leah McCarron, Sam Ruano, Shirley Jiang, and Kayla Kenlock, the latter two as alternates.
