During the storm on Saturday, a falling tree crashed through the top of a sport utility vehicle on Holly Hill Road, tearing a hole in the roof of the vehicle.

Two men jumped out of a passing car and attacked a man walking at 2:30 a.m. last Thursday near Queen’s Lane, according to police, who said that while the victim had waved them down and did appear to be injured, he refused to identify his assailants, except to say they were “friends” of his. An ambulance was called to evaluate the man, who police said was intoxicated.
A Sept. 22 argument between two Morris Park Lane neighbors escalated, and someone called police. One neighbor said the other had positioned a planter on his property; the other said it wasn’t his property. Police told them to take the matter to civil court.
East Hampton Village
Village police received a report from Southampton Town last Thursday that a car registered to a village resident had been found in the woods there, unoccupied. Police were able to ping a man’s phone associated with the car, and a woman answered, telling them he was “around the movie theater and then on Newtown Lane,” but they did not find him. Southampton Town detectives told village police they would be searching the woods for the woman. On Friday, village police said a woman and an apparently unhoused man were spotted in Starbucks, and they took the woman to Stony Brook Southampton Hospital for evaluation.
Early Friday morning an automatic carbon monoxide alarm was activated at a Huntting Lane house. No one was injured.
Police were called to Newtown Lane on Friday, where a woman said another driver had “flipped her off” and then motioned for her to pull over. The other driver said she’d cut him off, and he was motioning for her to pull over to “discuss the issue.”
A Manhattan man was ticketed on Sept. 22 for driving on Main Beach without a beach-driving permit.
Village-owned grass was damaged on Sept. 23 when a tractor-trailer backing into a Lily Pond Lane driveway drove over it.
Someone called into the 911 emergency line on Sept. 21 to report a pool being drained onto East Hollow Road. The pool workers had already left by the time officers arrived.
Montauk
A Merrick man called police on Sept. 23 complaining that a bartender at The Point Bar and Grill would not serve him alcohol because he did not have his identification on him. Police advised him that the bar was not obligated to serve him and gave him a ride back to Gurney’s Inn and Spa, where he was staying.
Outside the same bar on Sept. 21, police found a “highly intoxicated” Lynbrook man, who, according to employees, had been kicked out of the bar and kept trying to get back in. Police told him to leave; he did.
A man described by police as highly intoxicated reported on Sept. 21 that “used cooking oil” was leaking from a restaurant near Carl Fisher Plaza. It was pooled rainwater, police said.
Early Saturday morning, an Uber driver called police to report that a prospective fare, identified as a man from Smithtown, had first refused to get in his vehicle but then chased it down the road outside the Memory Motel.
A man charging his phone on Sept. 23 behind Martha Greene Real Estate on The Plaza was told by police he was on private property. He left without incident.
Sag Harbor
What a West Water Street resident thought was a foghorn was actually wind chimes that were making a racket on Friday night in the oncoming northeaster.
A man police said sounded irate called for an ambulance for his mother on Sept. 21. Police said they were concerned about the caller, who told them “nobody was helping” to get his mother to the hospital. He was not at their West Water Street house when police arrived there and neither was his mother, who later told an officer she was walking on the beach and did not require assistance.
A woman using a crosswalk on Long Island Avenue on Sept. 22 told police a driver “almost struck her” and then “made sexual gestures to her before driving off.” Police did not locate the car.
A Spring Street resident told police on Sept. 22 that the Kidd Squid brewery has been too loud during past events. Police told her that she should call them during the events. Later that day, another Spring Street resident called to complain about noise from the brewery. Employees there lowered the music when police asked them to.
Springs
An East Hampton man was charged with criminal trespassing last Thursday after he entered a Glade Road garage without permission.
What was described as a “physical disturbance” in the parking lot of One Stop Market the night of Sept. 22 led police to a Springs man, who told them by phone that he would not produce himself for an interview or allow police in his home.
An East Hampton man was withdrawing money from an A.T.M. on Sept. 16, he told police, when he noticed some money missing from his account. Upon investigation, he found a $263 transaction had been made from Florida on his account. He told police he wanted the incident documented.
Wainscott
The manager of the veterinary clinic on Goodfriend Drive called police last Thursday to report that the owner of a dog who is a patient at the clinic was “throwing the dog’s vomit” around the office. Police said the dog owner was shouting when they arrived that the clinic had given the dog too many treats, causing it to vomit. The owner was escorted out of the office and told not to return.
After losing control of his car on Daniel’s Hole Road on Friday night, a Flanders man was charged with driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor. Police said the brakes on the van malfunctioned before he hit a utility pole.
