An East Hampton man told village police he was looking down at his phone last Friday afternoon when his 2016 Chevrolet pickup truck ran into a 2018 Tesla at the intersection of Pantigo and Accabonac Roads.

The Tesla driver, Russell Diamond of Sag Harbor, was stopped in westbound traffic when Ivan Mesa of East Hampton rear-ended his vehicle.

A passenger in the Tesla reported whiplash — hip, neck, and back pain — but declined medical treatment. Hammer Towing pulled the Tesla to its Wainscott lot.
