Amagansett

As Saturday midnight approached, bouncers guarding the door at Stephen Talkhouse watched a customer grab a stack of dollar bills they were using to make change for the cover fee to enter. Confronted, the man gave back the money. Nick Kraus, the manager, declined to press charges, but told police he wanted the man and those with him to leave, which they did, and not return.

East Hampton

Someone with a BB gun shot out three garage door windowpanes on Hampton Place Saturday night. Valerie Street told police the vandalism occurred between 7:30 and 10.

East Hampton Village

An 89-year-old female resident of Dunemere Lane told police on Aug. 8 that a stranger had followed her into her driveway. He offered to wash her car, she said, and attempted to hand her a business card. Rejected, he got into a Land Rover and drove away, she said. Police canvassed the area without success.

Police were called to David’s Lane Friday afternoon by a New York woman with a house on that street. She told the responding officer that a baby bird had fallen from a nest, and she had moved it to keep it safe. The officer gave her the phone number of the Evelyn Alexander Wildlife Rescue Center in Hampton Bays.

A Ronkonkoma woman wired $600 to a man who was advertising a rental on Buell Lane Friday. When she arrived at the address that evening, she discovered that she had been scammed. Police are investigating.

A caller reported smoke coming from a Pondview Lane property last weekend. Police discovered a caterer who was roasting a pig. No action was taken.

Montauk

There was a brief skirmish at the Swallow East bar after midnight Sunday. Marcella Marchan of West Palm Beach, Fla., was with Michael Tamay-Espana when, she told police, his ex-girlfriend began cursing at her. The woman, who was not identified in the report, shoved her, Ms. Marchan said, and she fell down, which caused facial bruising. She told police, however, that she did not want to press charges. Police were called to the Kailani boutique on Aug. 3. Kristen Burke told them that two teenage girls had come in the night before with a group of other teens, and gone into the fitting room to try on bikinis. When they left, she discovered that a black Swim Candy bikini was missing. She valued it at $116.

A red 2007 Husqvarna dirt bike, valued at $6,500, was stolen from outside a Flamingo Avenue residence on the afternoon of Aug. 8. The VIN number on the bike, Kevin Becker told police, was ZCGAFEHB77V40502. Anyone with information has been asked to call police at 631-537-7575.

The Hartman’s Briney Breezes motel sign on Old Montauk Highway was vandalized after midnight Aug. 7. Robert White told police it would cost about $600 to repair.

A Navy Road residence belonging to Thomas Ferreira, along with a 2016 Audi parked outside, was attacked by egg-tossers on the night of Aug. 7. Mr. Ferreira has long battled the town over the numerous vehicles and objects stored on his property, which abuts the Long Island Rail Road right of way. There are no suspects.

Lisa Didyk, owner of a unit in the Montauk Shores Condominium trailer park, was awakened early Aug. 4 by noises coming from a shed outside her bedroom window. She looked outside, she told police, and saw a man coming out of the shed carrying a fishing rod. Much of the police report was blacked out, but it does say the man dropped the rod and ran off to the east. Police found him on nearby Otis Road. Ms. Didyk, after speaking with her husband by phone, declined to press charges.

The finial on the flagpole outside the Montauk Chamber of Commerce was snapped off overnight last Thursday, possibly by someone swinging from the pole, according to police. A split rail from a fence was found by the base of the pole.
