Abigail Balnis and Gabriel DeWalk were married on April 29 at the Randall House in Greer, S.C. The groom’s uncle Jonathan Powell officiated.

The bride’s parents, Richard Balnis and the late Jennifer Balnis, had lived in East Hampton before moving to South Carolina. Mr. Balnis, a retired East Hampton Town police detective, now lives in Beaufort, S.C. The bride’s grandmothers, Diane Balnis and Nora V. Hajko, both live in East Hampton.

The groom is the son of Melissa Powell DeWalk and Richard DeWalk of Charleston. The groom’s grandmothers are Frankie Powell of Greer and Beverly DeWalk of Charleston, S.C.

The bride is studying for a paramedic degree at Trident Tech University and working as a nanny and in youth ministry at Sea Coast Church, where the couple met. The groom is a business coordinator for the Sea Coast Church.

The bride’s maid of honor was her sister, Avery Balnis of Columbia, S.C. Her bridesmaids were her cousin, Faith Fenelon of East Hampton, and her friend Theresa Kujawa of Charleston. Lennon and Evie Little were the flower girls.

The groom’s brother Christian DeWalk of Charleston was his best man. His groomsmen were Justyn Philpot, Robert Watkins, and Joshua Williamson of Charleston. His younger brother, Jeremiah DeWalk, was the ring bearer.

During the ceremony, flowers were placed on an empty chair in memory of the bride’s late mother, “whose love and influence will always be part of their story.”

The couple honeymooned in Puerto Rico and are now back home in Charleston.
