State Sets a Date for Fixing Route 114

Thu, 12/03/2020 - 12:53

The New York State Department of Transportation will begin repairing and resurfacing Route 114, from where it intersects with Stephen Hand's Path in East Hampton Village to the South Ferry terminal on North Haven, in the fall of 2021, Assemblyman Fred. W. Thiele Jr. announced on Sunday.

"This resurfacing is long overdue," Mr. Thiele said, and the project is also "an opportunity to make this route safer for the traveling public, bicyclists, and pedestrians." In addition to road repairs, sidewalks along the corridor will be upgraded to include curb ramps to meet Americans With Disabilities Act requirements, he said.

The project is now in the design stage, and the Department of Transportation will be incorporating improvements recommended by members of the public. "Any suggestions for this project may be forwarded to my office or directly to the State D.O.T.," Mr. Thiele said.
