Riding Scholarship Apps Due

Thu, 09/08/2022 - 09:48

The Stony Hill Stables Foundation is once again offering scholarships to South Fork children interested in horseback riding. Applications are due Sunday, Sept. 25, in person at the stables, 268 Town Lane in Amagansett, and scholarships will be awarded "right away in September," the organization says on its website.

"We are looking for children who love horses and are motivated and driven to learn equestrian skills. Academic achievements, leadership positions, athletic, and community activities, as well as financial need, are taken into account during the selection process," Stony Hill said in an announcement last month.

The scholarship covers 10 half-hour private lessons and 10 one-hour group lessons over the course of the coming fall and winter seasons, during which participants will learn hunter/jumper equestrian skills, good sportsmanship, and the proper care of horses.

Local residency is required, and applicants must write a short personal statement describing their interest in riding and any prior experience. The application is online at stonyhillstables.com. Ann Stewart is the contact at 631-377-8587 for more information.
