Kids Culture for September 1

Thu, 09/01/2022 - 15:01
Our Fabulous Variety Show

The arrival of September isn't just about school supplies and classroom assignments -- it's also time to sign up for after-school activities, and for children and teens who enjoy dancing, or want to learn, opportunities are plentiful here.

DanceHampton in East Hampton Village, Creative Edge Dance Studio in Montauk, Studio 3 and Hampton Ballet Theatre School in Bridgehampton, Our Fabulous Variety Show in East Hampton and Bridgehampton, and the A and G Dance Company at the Southampton Cultural Center are all enrolling students for fall classes.

Ballet is widely considered the foundation of most other types of dance, and is the focus at the Hampton Ballet Theatre School. Creative Edge has several options for the littlest dancers, as young as 18 months. DanceHampton and Our Fabulous Variety Show offer competition programs for those who want to take it to the next level. Each studio offers regular opportunities to perform for friends and family members. Some also offer acting and improvisation.

Each studio has a schedule and registration details on its website. For those who are just starting to dip their toes into dance, it's a good idea to ask around to see who may be getting rid of dance shoes that no longer fit — those can get expensive.
