Three Field Hockey Shutouts

Bonac’s high school field hockey team, after dropping games to Rocky Point and Miller Place at the beginning of the season, has won three straight in recent days, defeating Pierson 1-0, Greenport-Southold 2-0, and Hampton Bays 2-0.

Maya Feit, a fleet left wing, scored the goal in the game with Pierson, Hanna Medler scored both goals in the game with Greenport-Southold, and Delillah Desmond and Anna Hugo were the scorers in the game with Hampton Bays. Tia Weiss’s alert goaltending kept the Whalers, Porters, and Baywomen at bay.

Big Volleyball Win

East Hampton High’s girls volleyball team defeated Westhampton Beach, a perennial rival, in five here Monday — a big win, Alex Choi, the team’s coach, agreed.

The scores were 17-25, 25-15, 24-26, 25-23, 25-17. Mikela Junemann, who anchors the middle, finished with 20 kills, Molly Mamay, the setter, had 20 assists, and Hannah Hartsough had 40 digs (returns of hits). It was the sixth straight win for girls volleyball since losing the season-opener to Kings Park.
