Montauk’s 45th annual Fall Fest, a celebration of the season, will take place on Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the downtown green.

This year, the festival will feature many of the vendors from the hamlet’s farmers market, which operates on the green one day per week during the warmer months, along with seasonal activities, food, beer and wine, live music by Candy Shop and Real East End Brass, and an appearance on Saturday by Stephane Matteau, a member of the New York Rangers’ 1994 Stanley Cup championship team. There will be a sports silent auction and a raffle table, and children will be able to take part in pumpkin decorating, crafts, games, bounce houses, face painting, and other hands-on activities.

The Fall Fest is expanding its fall harvest theme this year with pumpkins, hay bales, seasonal games, fall decorations, and festive photo opportunities.

A clam chowder contest, with entries available to be sampled on a first-come-first-served basis, happens on Saturday starting at 11 a.m. A panel of seven judges will determine the winning concoction. Clam chowder will also be served at the food tent both days.

“The Fall Fest could not happen without all the local businesses supporting us,” Rachael Corsi, executive director of the Montauk Chamber of Commerce, told The Star. “Between the clam chowder donated from local businesses and all the raffle donations from the businesses in Montauk and even East Hampton and Amagansett, it’s a really big local community event” and “a great way to bring in off-season events and support a local tradition that’s been going on for 45 years now.”
