Edwin Keeshan, medical director of the Meeting House Lane Medical Practice in Montauk, will host the hamlet’s first Walk With a Doc, part of a national effort, on Saturday at 11 a.m. The meeting place is the gazebo on the downtown green.
He will spend a few minutes discussing a current health topic, after which the group will complete a lap around Fort Pond. Participants can walk at a pace and distance of their choosing, and have been invited to ask questions during the walk. All ages and abilities will be welcomed.
Dr. Keeshan became a physician in 2013 after a 24-year career as a naval officer. He completed his undergraduate studies at the United States Naval Academy, medical school at St. George’s University in Grenada, and residency at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University in Brooklyn.
Celebrating its 20th year, Walk With a Doc is a nonprofit started by David A. Sabgir, M.D., a cardiologist in Columbus, Ohio. Initially aimed at helping patients get more physical activity, the program, held on the third Saturday of every month, also offers an opportunity to spend time in nature, build friendships, and receive free health education in a relaxed setting
