After 15 years at its Bay Street, Sag Harbor, location, GeekHampton, which offers sales and service of Apple products including computers, tablets, and watches as well as third-party products like speakers, hard drives, and iPhone accessories, will close on Tuesday at 6 p.m. It will reopen on May 4 in Hampton Bays.
Sheryl Heller, an owner of GeekHampton, said on Tuesday that the lease had expired and the decision was made to seek a new location rather than renew the lease at 34 Bay Street.
“We’re opening a new store in Hampton Bays,” she said, “with a lot more foot traffic, a larger parking lot, and more centrally located.” The new site is at 30 East Montauk Highway, next to a Starbucks at a shopping center anchored by a King Kullen supermarket.
After founding an in-home business known as Twin Peaks Geeks in 2000, Ms. Heller and co-founder Mike Avery opened a retail store in Hampton Bays in 2008 and rebranded as GeekHampton. The store moved to Sag Harbor in 2011.
GeekHampton is working to accommodate existing customers, Ms. Heller said. It will continue to assist customers remotely as well as on site and provide pickup and delivery.
“We’re bittersweet about the move,” she said, “but we’re hoping this is going to revive the business.”
