Local police released just one arrest report recently, with the three-day holiday weekend delaying normal Monday reports.
Denis Diaz-Gavilanes of Sag Harbor, 26, was charged on Feb. 13 with second-degree criminal contempt, a misdemeanor, for allegedly disobeying an order of protection issued in East Hampton Town Justice Court in December. Police said Mr. Diaz-Gavilanes had knocked on the front door of a house that he was barred from visiting.
A man was reported to be “crying in the road” on North Main Street on Sept. 14, but police were unable to find him.
A “shirtless and stumbling” man was arrested Saturday afternoon after being involved in a car accident police said was caused by his drinking and driving.
An accident on Montauk Highway in Wainscott last week that left two drivers injured was caused by sun glare, according to East Hampton Town police.
Two neighbors on Georgica Road called police Saturday because one has been trimming the other’s hedge, which he does not want trimmed. The trimmer called the work a “neighborly gesture” based on his neighbor’s neglect of “landscaping and upkeep.”
