Criminal Contempt Charged

Local police released just one arrest report recently, with the three-day holiday weekend delaying normal Monday reports.

Denis Diaz-Gavilanes of Sag Harbor, 26, was charged on Feb. 13 with second-degree criminal contempt, a misdemeanor, for allegedly disobeying an order of protection issued in East Hampton Town Justice Court in December. Police said Mr. Diaz-Gavilanes had knocked on the front door of a house that he was barred from visiting.

A flashlight-carrying man walking near Church Lane in Springs early Saturday morning was taken to the train station after he told police his friends had left him without a ride home to Hampton Bays after a night out drinking.
