Point of View: Get Me to the Courts on Time

Wed, 05/20/2020 - 19:17

I’m playing tennis in the morning,

Ding, dong, the balls all will be signed,

Pull out the hopper, let’s do it proper,

But get me to the courts on time.

I gotta be there in the morning,

Masked up and lookin’ past my prime,

Gino, don’t dis me, say that you miss me,

But get me to the courts on time.

If I am wary,

Give me a kick

If I am chary,

Disabuse me quick

Yes sir, we’ll keep our social distance,

Six feet and maybe even more,

Scott will be happy, though we’ll play crappy,

Get me to the courts on time.

Two months of reading, reading, reading,

Tryin’ to exercise my brain,

Shut in by Covid? Open up your Ovid,

Still get me to the courts on time.

If I am creaky,

Let’s not keep score

If I am cheeky

Ignore, ignore

I’m playing tennis in the morning,

Plagues serve to concentrate one’s mind,

I want to rally, please let’s not dally,

And get me to the courts, get me to the courts on time!
