Stony Brook Southampton Celebrates Survivors

In recognition of National Cancer Survivors Month, there will be a celebration at Stony Brook Southampton Hospital's Phillips Family Cancer Center on June 1 from 5 to 7:30 p.m. The ceremony will acknowledge "the individual journey of every cancer survivor," the hospital said in an announcement.  

The celebration, with refreshments and live music, is free for cancer survivors and their families to attend. Advance registration is required online at bit.ly/natlsurvivor or by phone at 631-638-7222 by May 30.

Call ‘Flesh Eating’ Alarmist

The Vibrio vulnificus “flesh eating” bacterium “is not unusual in warm saltwater or brackish environments and does not necessarily indicate pollution or a widespread public health emergency,” the Southampton Town Trustees said in an advisory issued following a social media post that went viral.
