A buy-a-brick campaign has been started to help defray the cost of creating the John L. Behan Memorial Park on the corner of Flamingo Avenue and West Lake Drive in Montauk.
Bricks cost $125 to $175 and can be personalized with names or messages. Marilyn Behan has details at [email protected] or 631-848-2368.
It is hoped that the park will be completed by Veterans Day, which was also Mr. Behan's birthday.
The antifungal pesticide Broadform, that was previously banned by the New York State D.E.C. because of its impact on groundwater but was approved to treat the disease, has been found to be effective in a far lower dose. And, Arbortech, a fungicide that is injected rather than sprayed, has also showed some effectiveness with less of an environmental impact.
