A Celebration of the Long Pond Greenbelt

The Long Pond Greenbelt will host its annual celebration behind the South Fork Natural History Museum in Bridgehampton on Saturday starting at 10 a.m. A migratory bird walk will be followed by a story time, a chance to meet animals from the Quogue Wildlife Refuge, face painting, a search for amphibians, and other activities. 

Ice cream and other refreshments will be complimentary. The free celebration will happen rain or shine.

The Sag Harbor Chamber of Commerce’s annual HarborFrost returns Friday and Saturday, bringing fireworks and winter activities like ice carving and fire dancing to Main Street and beyond.

Item of the Week: A Snow-Covered Gunster House

The Joseph F. Gunster House, also known as the T.W. Morris House, on Hither Lane near Amy’s Lane, appears here covered in snow, off a snowy road. While the photograph is uncredited and undated, Gunster (1894-1979) and his wife, Ruth Harris Work Gunster, who was known as Harriette, owned the house for almost 21 years, between August 1943 and 1964.

‘Sensitive Areas’ No Longer Safe From ICE Raids?

One of the first executive orders of the new Trump administration rescinded Biden administration policies that forbid Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents from conducting raids in “sensitive areas” such as schools and places of worship.
