The Hampton Classic has released the poster for this year’s event, designed and photographed by the equine photographer Shelli Breidenbach. The poster was to have announced last year’s big annual horse show, but the event was canceled because of the Covid-19 pandemic.

This is the first photograph selected as the Classic's poster since 2007 — almost 15 years. An image of a chestnut horse bending its head to its raised leg is the focal point.

Ms. Breidenbach prefers to photograph horses without adornment to emphasize the shape of the animal, a preference reflected in this year’s design. She has been an equine photographer for almost 20 years, and the design showcases her "deep understanding of the beauty of horses," said Shanette Barth Cohen, executive director of the Classic.

The 45th edition of the Hampton Classic will take place off Snake Hollow Road in Bridgehampton from Aug. 26 to Sept. 5. Each year, the show, with a V.I.P. area as well as grandstands, hosts up to 50,000 people and more than 1,500 horses in hunter, jumper, and equitation classes. This year’s event will offer more than $800,000 in prize money and showcase nationally ranked horses and riders. More than 80 vendors are expected on the grounds as well, offering, along with the poster, horse-related items such as jewelry and clothing, an abundance of foods, and activities for children.
