For Writing College Essays

Thu, 07/16/2026 - 09:04

Free, one-on-one support for high school students working on their college application essays will be offered at the Amagansett Library Friday from 1 to 3 p.m., and again on Aug. 21 and Sept. 19, also from 1 to 3.

Students at every stage of their application process, from brainstorming ideas to drafting, revising, editing, and final proofreading, will be welcomed. Participants will receive personalized guidance to help them tell their unique stories. Students can reserve a time slot through the library’s website, or they have been invited to drop in during those hours, as appointments are not required.

Margie Miller, who for the past eight years has helped New York City high school students develop their college essays through the Options Center at Goddard Riverside, a social services organization, and the Opportunity Network, is volunteering her time for the program.
