Do you like slushies? The Springs School sixth graders especially did after receiving them as a reward for having the most SOAR points in September, for their service, optimism, accountability, and respect.

Points were given to students in sixth, seventh, and eighth grades for having the neatest lockers, neatest hallways, and the best school spirit when they came to school in their pep rally color.

Sondra Vecchio, one of the middle school’s science teachers, hosted the pep rally. After she announced that the sixth graders were the winners, the students screamed with excitement.

Ms. Vecchio delivered the slushies to the sixth-grade students during their ninth-period class, a time of day when they needed them most. All students enjoyed their slushies. “It’s great that sixth graders showed respectful behavior, Chromebook etiquette, and spirit during their first pep rally,” she said during an interview, adding that she made treats herself using her own slushie machine.

Kathrine Rojas, one of the sixth graders, said she liked her slushie “and it tasted like fruit punch.”

The school’s next pep rally will be tomorrow. Which class will earn the most SOAR points this month?
