Bees With Milk

Bridgehampton's Killer Bees on the back of a Cheerios box?

It's a natural.

General Foods, it seems, has begun putting a new line of role models on its familiar yellow cereal boxes: high school sports teams from around the nation. Southampton Town Councilman Steven Halsey got the idea, no doubt during breakfast, to sponsor the Bees, winners this year of their seventh state basketball championship, for the honor, and the team is now waiting to hear whether they'll be chosen.

Adidas, too, thinks the Bees are pretty hot stuff. The international sporting goods company, at the suggestion of Joe Zucker, an artist who is one of their biggest fans, is outfitting the team next year with sneakers, bags, and T-shirts.

What fine testaments, on top of all the Bees' other accolades, and what suitable recognition for the years of tough, disciplined teamwork. Pull on your Adidas and eat your Cheerios, John and Jane, and you, too, may grow up to be a Bee.
