Weekend D.W.I. Arrests

Thu, 08/29/2019 - 11:22

Two 32-year-olds were arrested on drunken driving charges over the weekend.

William G. Otavalo of East Hampton was driving a 2001 GMC south on Three Mile Harbor Road, near Springy Banks Road in East Hampton, when town police spotted him on Saturday at about 1:45 a.m. He crossed over the solid white line several times, they reported. He appeared intoxicated, and was arrested after failing field sobriety tests. Justice Lisa R. Rana released him on his own recognizance following arraignment later that morning.

Chiara M. Leonetti of Manhattan was reportedly caught driving while intoxicated in Montauk at about 9 p.m. on Sunday. Police said her 1983 Fiat, which was headed south on the Plaza near Main Street, had no taillights. She performed poorly on the roadside tests, they said, and was charged with misdemeanor D.W.I. and held overnight for arraignment. Justice Rana released her on her own recognizance in the morning.
