The Southampton Town Police Department has joined more social media platforms in an attempt to further reach the community.

The department, which already had an official Facebook page, can now be found on Twitter and Instagram. "To keep up to date on the proud men and women who serve the Town of Southampton follow us daily," Lt. Susan C. Ralph said in a statement issued last week.

On Twitter, the department's handle is @PoliceSHTownNY, and on Instagram, it can be found @SouthamptonTownPolice.

Over the weekend, the department posted photos and video from a bike rodeo for children at the East Quogue Elementary School and alerted followers to a missing teen in Flanders, who was later found. Photographs were also posted from a Special Olympics event at the Hampton Bays High School a week earlier.
