Sally L. McClain

October 13, 2011

Sally L. McClain of North Haven died on Oct. 5 at Southampton Hospital. She was 81.

She was born Sally Schreier on March 19, 1930, in Southampton, to Charles F. Schreier Sr. and the former Thelma Overton. She graduated from Pierson High School in Sag Harbor and attended the State University at Cortland.

After marrying Robert F. McClain, she moved with him to North Haven, where her children, grandchildren, and, eventually, great-grandchildren, became her main focus in life, said her family.

Her husband died before her, as did a daughter, Dona L. King, and her twin brother, Dr. Charles F. Schreier Jr. She leaves three children, Robin A. Prince of Fork Union, Va., Jill A. Wolfram of North Haven, and Beth A. Field, also of North Haven. She is survived as well by 11 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and 5 nieces and nephews.

Ms. McClain was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, for which memorial donations have been suggested. The address is 26 Bay Street, Sag Harbor 11963. The family also suggested donations to the American Cancer Society Relay for Life, at relayforlife.org
