Jacqueline Eurell, 83
A former bank manager at Bank of the Hamptons and a dedicated member of the Montauk Community Church, Jacqueline L. Knowlan Eurell died on Thursday at the Baldwinville (Mass.) Nursing Home with her family at her side. She was 83 years old.
Ms. Eurell spent 18 years, from 1971 to 1989, at the Bank of the Hamptons, moving on to the Bank of New York as a bank manager from 1990 to 1996. She also was a trustee of the American Institute of Banking.
She lived in Montauk for over 40 years, and held many positions at the church, including deacon, elder, clerk of session, Sunday school teacher, and treasurer. She was also a member of the church choir and often arranged flowers for church services. She moved to Baldwinville, Mass., in July of 2003.
Ms. Eurell started life in New York City on Aug. 5, 1928, the daughter of Joseph and Madeline Chapman Crosier. She graduated from W.C. Mepham High School in Bellmore.
Ms. Eurell enjoyed traveling, and went to Cuba twice as a member of a Presbyterian mission committee. She enjoyed bowling and had been in many state, local, and national tournaments.
She is survived by nine children. They are Jacquelyn (Pat) Cidlowski, James Knowlan, and Edward Eurell, all of Montauk, Barbara A. Woodbury of Baldwinville, Susan Hupka of Pasadena, Md., Carol Ganter of Monson, Mass., Deborah Leger of Riverview, New Brunswick, Canada, Christine Sontag of Leominster, Mass., and Michael Eurell of Palmyra, Va. Two sisters, Maryann Schill of Tobaccoville, N.C., and Joan Walther of Bellmore, survive as does a brother, Robert Crosier of Cornelius, N.C. She also is survived by 15 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, 2 adopted grandchildren, and 4 step-great-grandchildren. A son, Gerald Knowlan, two grandsons, Jason Woodbury and Jon Cidlowski, and a sister, Madeline Waltz, died before her.
A service will be held on Saturday at the Memorial Congregational Church in Baldwinville, with the Rev. Robert Johansen officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery there. A service for Ms. Eurell will be held at the Montauk Community Church at a later date.
