In “Loop Holes,” Louise Eastman’s homespun weavings and cast bricks look perfectly at home in the barn that houses the Silas Marder Gallery exhibition space in Bridgehampton. Yet they would look equally at home in some of the South Fork’s remaining untouched classic midcentury ranches, complete with linoleum floors and Formica countertops.

Jeff Muhs’s New Paintings

“Slipstream,” a new series of abstract paintings by Jeff Muhs, will open this evening at Lyons Wier Gallery in Chelsea with a reception from 6 to 8 and will remain on view through Dec. 20.

A slipstream is an area of reduced air pressure and forward suction created behind a rapidly moving vehicle. In Mr. Muhs’s paintings, the slipstream is made visually by foreground elements that leave a swirling area of turbulence in their wake.

The Southampton Cultural Center’s Rising Stars Piano Series will present a concert by Jiayan Sun, a Pianofest artist, on Saturday at 7 p.m. Mr. Sun has won prizes at piano competitions in Toronto, Beijing, Cleveland, and Leeds, England. He will perform Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach’s Sonata No. 1 and Frederic Chopin’s 24 Preludes Op. 28.

Admission is $15, free for students under 21.v

“Every other line is famous,” whispered an audience member in astonishment to her friend during a performance of the Round Table Theatre Company’s “Hamlet” at Guild Hall on Sunday.

That is true. It’s hard not to smile at lines like “To thine own self be true,” or “Frailty‚ thy name is woman‚” and a dozen other familiar phrases. Round Table has provided a program filled with welcome “fun facts” and timelines about both “Hamlet” and the life of the playwright, which should help Shakespeare virgins to feel more at ease.

The John Drew Theater Lab will stage the premiere of “Wild Horses,” an original theater piece written by Andrea Goldman, with music by Dani Campos, Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. The free program is a project of the Box Collective, a New York City-based company of artists who develop and present interdisciplinary live performances.

“Celebrating Architecture,” a program of A.I.A. Peconic, will take place Saturday from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at the Southampton Arts Center in the old Parrish Art Museum building on Job’s Lane.

The evening will offer an opportunity to see three exhibits — “Art by Architects,” “Firm Exhibits,” and “Design Award Entries.” The 2014 Daniel J. Rowen Memorial Design Award winners will be announced.

Tickets are $55 and entitle guests to hors d’oeuvres and cocktails.

Mary Black, a dominant presence in Irish music both at home and abroad for 25 years, will perform at the Basilica Parish of the Sacred Heart Jesus and Mary Catholic Church in Southampton tomorrow at 7 p.m. as part of her international “Last Call Tour.”

Oenophiles, rejoice! This year has been another excellent one for the Long Island wine industry. “It was a dream,” said Roman Roth, a partner and winemaker at Wolffer Estate Vineyard in Sagaponack. “It was a summer without humidity, just an amazing start and middle of the growing season. As a result, we have completely healthy fruit, no disease pressure, and that translates into pure fruit flavors and aromas and flavorful wines.”

The Joseph Slifka Center for Jewish Life at Yale is presenting “No One Remembers Alone: Memory, Migration, and the Making of an American Family,” an exhibition organized by Patricia Klindienst, through Feb. 1.

Ms. Klindienst, a summer resident of Amagansett, has created a visual biography of a family of Russian Jews who immigrated to the New World at the turn of the 20th century. Drawing on six years of archival and genealogical research and dozens of interviews, she illuminates a turning point in history, telling a story that could belong to millions of American Jews.

In honor of Veterans Day and the centennial of the outbreak of World War I, the Montauk Library will present “Over There: Songs of World War I,” a free concert, on Sunday at 3:30 p.m.

Linda Russell, balladeer for the National Park Service at Federal Hall National Memorial in New York City for 16 years, will interpret the Great War through the music of the battlefield and the home front.

The John Drew Theater Lab will present “Songs of Life and Love,” a free performance by Paul Alexander, Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. at Guild Hall. Mr. Alexander, an ASCAP award-winner and East End resident, has performed at many venues, New York City cabaret clubs and theaters among them. The program will include an eclectic mix of pop songs, standards, country, and a few originals. Dan Koontz will accompany Mr. Alexander.

Carone at Washburn

The Washburn Gallery in New York City will present “Nicolas Carone: Paintings From the 1950s” today through Jan. 17, with a reception tonight from 6 to 8.

Although Mr. Carone continued to paint until his death in 2010 at 93, it was during the ’50s that he was a central figure in the New York School. He bought a house in Springs in 1954 and split his time afterward between the city and the South Fork.

Building on their strong production of “Macbeth” two years ago, Morgan and Tristan Vaughan and their Roundtable Theatre Company will now tackle “Hamlet‚” beginning tomorrow at Guild Hall.

Although one of Ms. Vaughan’s goals is to make the play more accessible to the audience, she will not abandon the classic. “We are taking out text that is not relevant, not adding text. The actors will still be fighting with swords, not guns,” she said during a break in a recent rehearsal. Ms. Vaughan is directing Mr. Vaughan, her husband, in the title role.

It can be a Herculean task to clear out a business after 33 years, but that is what Bebe and Warren Johnson did last week as they said goodbye to the Race Lane storefront of Pritam & Eames to begin a semi-retirement based online and in a new showroom on Mount Desert Island, Me.

“The Only Real Game,” a documentary by Mirra Bank about the popularity of baseball in the isolated state of Manipur in India, will be screened at Quad Cinema in New York City tomorrow through next Thursday.

Ms. Bank, who lives in East Hampton, presents a portrait of the past and present in a complex society that hosts two envoy coaches from Major League Baseball. Images of instructional clinics are intercut with archival material that fills in the history of Manipur, including its ongoing 50 years of martial law.

Michael Disher will offer a three-week acting class at the Southampton Cultural Center from Tuesday through Nov. 19.

“The Vocal and Physical Monologue” will meet on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Class size will be limited to 16 actors, who will gain an understanding of the range of their vocal skills and physicality using monologues.

For early-bird snowbirds, Lynn University in Boca Raton will present a one-night reading of  “East Hampton, Last Summer,” a new comedy with music by Tony Finstrom,  at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. A retired opera star and her playwright companion compete for social status in the bygone days of 1960. Tickets for the reading are $10 and available through lynn.edu/tickets.

Guild Hall will present the Metropolitan Opera’s Live in HD’s “Carmen” on Saturday at 1 p.m. Bizet’s melodrama features Anita Rachvelishvili in the title role and Aleksandrs Antonenko as her lover Don Jose. Ildar Abdrazakov completes the triangle as Escamillo, the bullfighter who comes between them. Pablo Heras-Casado conducts. Tickets are $22, $20 for members, and $15 for students.

On Saturday at 5 p.m., the Watermill Center will present an open rehearsal of Lydian Junction. The group, which creates live art that incorporates performance, video, installation, music, and dance, has been in residency at the center since Oct. 14. They will complete it on Wednesday.

Members of Lydian Junction are Sarah Cameron Sunde, Dages Juvelier Keates, Christopher Berg, Oliver Burns, and Karla Carballar, each of whom has a specialty, whether in dance, performance, video art, or other disciplines.

Tomorrow at 6 p.m., Sandro Russo will perform the final concert of the Parrish Art Museum’s fall Salon Series. The Sicilian-born pianist will play works by Chopin, Rachmaninoff, and Lowell Liebermann, a contemporary American composer.

Mr. Russo graduated summa cum laude from the Vincenzo Bellini Conservatory in 1995 and earned the pianoforte performing diploma from the Royal College of Music in London. He has performed at numerous concert halls and received many awards. In 2008, he performed at the Music Festival of the Hamptons opening night.

“To Kill a Mockingbird” will return as Bay Street’s Literature Live! production in November. Public performances of the play will begin on Friday, Nov. 7, and will continue through the next three weekends on Fridays and Saturdays. In addition, some tickets for weekday performances, reserved for schools, will be offered based on availability.

New Shows at Halsey Mckay

Halsey Mckay has opened two new shows at its East Hampton gallery space. One, “Inversion Spectrum,” is a solo show of works by Corey Escoto, who uses both analog and digital processes in photography to tease the viewer into figuring out which is which, where the origin of each image lies, and how photography has adapted to contain all of the available technology.

Guild Hall will present two new exhibitions, “Mary Ellen Bartley: Leaning Above the Page” and “New Additions to the Guild Hall Museum Permanent Collection, 2010-2014,” from Saturday through Jan. 4. An opening reception will be held Saturday from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Two new exhibitions, “Alan Shields: In Motion” and “Steven and William Ladd: Mary Queen of the Universe,” will open at the Parrish Art Museum in Water Mill on Sunday and remain on view through Jan. 19. The Ladd Brothers’ show will open with a live performance by the artists Sunday morning at 11.

 Maria Bacardi, a Cuban-born actress and singer who lives in East Hampton, will perform a selection of Cuban songs on Saturday at 6 p.m. at GGrippo Art and Design in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. The occasion is the opening of “Alien Bloom,” an installation by Eteri and Gocha Chkadua Studio.

The Montauk Library will present “Moving Pictures: Classical Music in Cartoons,” a free piano concert by Alina Kiryayeva, Sunday at 3:30 p.m. The program is inspired by several cartoons from American animation’s golden age, which featured such characters as Bugs Bunny, Mickey Mouse, and Tom and Jerry as concert artists playing the works of important classical composers.

The Parrish Art Museum’s Salon Series will continue this weekend with two concerts by Andrew Staupe that will include music by both classical and contemporary composers. The performances will take place tomorrow at 6 p.m. and Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Water Mill museum’s Lichtenstein Theater.

Although Lee Krasner spent much of her life in Springs, it would be a mistake to neglect the contribution of Norman Lewis to “From the Margins: Lee Krasner | Norman Lewis, 1945-1952,” now at the Jewish Museum in Manhattan. The exhibition so enmeshes their work that it is difficult to divide one from the other.

Krasner, born in Brooklyn to Russian emigres, moved here in 1945 with her husband, Jackson Pollock, and helped form the colony of artists working here who would define midcentury Modern art.

It was while driving back and forth from Montauk to her job at VJS Studio in East Hampton that Mary Daunt realized what an unusual landscape lies on either side of Montauk Highway and in Montauk generally. “The light is a lot more intense in the early fall. I prefer fall colors — there’s so much contrast between the red and green and the blue and orange.” Montauk’s landscape “is wilder,” she said.

The John Drew Theater Lab will present a free staged reading of Lyle Kessler’s play “Orphans” on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m., directed by Sawyer Avery and Megan Minutillo and featuring Joe Pallister, Christopher Imbrosciano, and Mr. Avery.
