A 2007 Mack truck owned by Mickey’s Carting was involved in two accidents within five days here last week, one of which resulted in its driver being taken to Southampton Hospital.

Henry R. Sanchez, 41, of East Hampton was headed south on Red Dirt Road in Springs on the afternoon of March 10 when he drove off the road, striking a bank of hardened snow. He lost control of the truck, town police said, plowing farther off the road. The truck flipped over onto its side and came to a stop against some trees. Mr.

A Sag Harbor carpenter was arrested Monday in East Hampton Village on two felony counts of burglary, as well as possession of stolen property. His victim, village police said, was a client on Huntting Lane.

Raymond Arthur Card, 64, was picked up on Toilsome Lane Monday afternoon. Village police said they found a stolen Citarella gift card for $100 in his pocket.

Mr. Card admitted to police, in a signed statement on file at East Hampton Town Justice Court, that he had opened Kathryn Krone’s kitchen door with a wall board knife.

Two East Hampton men recently convicted of driving while intoxicated were arrested again last week on the same charge.

A resident of one of the cottages at Bayberry Close off of Main Beach called police early on the morning of Feb. 23 to report his power was out and he didn’t have any heat.

The second of four men arrested in October on felony burglary charges following a break-in at Damark’s Deli on Three Mile Harbor Road in Springs pleaded guilty in East Hampton Town Justice Court last Thursday to reduced charges and was sentenced to six months’ incarceration.

Lucas M. Ward was brought into court in leg shackles and handcuffs by Suffolk County sheriffs. It was his 22nd birthday.

On Feb. 25, Floyd E. Downs was driving a 2008 pickup truck on Three Mile Harbor Road near Springy Banks Road in East Hampton when he “lost control of his vehicle on the icy road, causing him to cross the double yellow line,” the police reported.

In his truck’s path was an oncoming 2008 Chrysler sedan driven by Bettianne C. Mendez.

Sag Harbor police made two driving- while-intoxicated arrests last week, while the other departments in our coverage area reported none.

Jacob A. Love, 24, who police said had been seen by police “stumbling down Main Street” a little earlier last Thursday evening, was found slumped over the wheel of his vehicle with the engine running, his foot on the gas pedal, and the car in park. Under state law, if the engine is on and a driver is behind the wheel, the driver is considered to be operating the vehicle, even in park.

Amagansett

Two Amagansett men had a late-night altercation at Indian Wells Tavern earlier this month. Both men, Daniel Tooker and Keith Kevan, declined to press charges over the Feb. 8 incident. Mr. Tooker said he just wanted to be left alone.

East Hampton Village

Residents of Dunemere Lane reported a smell of gas on Saturday morning. Firefighters and police tracked it to the street and determined there was a gas leak. The fire department asked to have the road blocked off until a National Grid representative could investigate.

A Springs man who is facing an aggravated charge of drunken driving for the second time in seven months may do jail time if convicted, East Hampton Town Justice Lisa R. Rana warned him at his arraignment.

During the Presidents Day weekend, East Hampton Town police stopped Edgar Roman Villa Albarracin, 48, on Old Orchard Lane, East Hampton, for a traffic infraction and suspected he was intoxicated. He failed roadside tests, they said, and was taken back to headquarters, where a breath test reportedly produced a reading of .18 of 1 percent.

An Amagansett man was arrested after allegedly attacking a woman in her bedroom on Tuesday night. Michael D. Marran, 48, was charged with misdemeanor assault, criminal obstruction of breathing, and criminal mischief, as well as a felony charge for unlawfully entering the house.

Melvyn Aarons, 77, called police last week after Bank of America told him someone had attempted to open an account from a computer in Islip using his Social Security number. The potential thief, however, entered an old address for Mr. Aarons, which led the bank to decline the application and begin an investigation. Mr.

A Springs man, who was pulled over by an East Hampton Village police officer Friday night for alleged traffic violations, was ultimately charged with aggravated drunken driving.



Joseph Thomas McBride III, 22, was said by police to have had the “four-way flashers illuminated” on his 2005 Chevrolet Silverado while tailgating an eastbound car on Pantigo Road. He then passed the vehicle over the marked hazard zone in the center of road.

A worker at East Hampton High School told police his surfboard had been stolen from the bed of his pickup truck, parked in the school’s rear custodial lot, during Saturday’s wrestling tournament. Devon Grishom described the board as custom made, 5 feet 8 inches long.



Montauk



A dispute between two Montauk men over the now-closed restaurant Manucci’s, on the site of the Tipperary Inn, brought police there on Jan. 26. Edward P. Kenny, the owner of the building, told police that door hinges had been pried off.

A driver was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital Friday afternoon after a pickup truck hit a sedan at a controversial intersection of Route 114 in East Hampton Village.



Village police said the driver of the 2014 Chevrolet pickup, Jefferson D. Eames, 46, of Amagansett, had stopped at a Buell Lane stop sign before turning left onto Buell Lane Extension. He told police he did not see the 2013 Nissan that was headed south on Toilsome Lane, and struck it on the driver’s side.



The accident happened at 12:10 p.m.

An East Hampton Village resident was high on crack cocaine when he was stopped at 10 a.m. Saturday on Toilsome Lane, according to village police. Ronald Allen King, 61, was pulled over when the 1997 Chevrolet he was driving came up as unregistered, according to a reader on the police car.



Mr. King denied the charges, and pleaded not guilty in East Hampton Town Justice Court the next morning.



According to police documents, the arresting officer asked Mr. King, “Why does the car smell like a burned narcotic?” Mr.

A fire that broke out at Duryea’s Lobster Deck, a wholesale and retail seafood complex and restaurant on Fort Pond Bay in Montauk, could have been much worse had no one been there when it started on Saturday afternoon, fire officials said. The take-out business will even be serving up a “lobster lovers’ special” for Valentine’s Day weekend.



David Browne, an East Hampton Town fire marshal whose office investigated the cause, said a rusted iron propane pipe was to blame.

The case of Asli Dincer and Melih Dincer, the Turkish pair accused of sending false terrorism threats by email last spring to the Jewish Center of the Hamptons in East Hampton, took another twist on Jan. 23, when Asli Dincer, 44, turned her back on a deal to plead guilty to a reduced charge as well as to another, unrelated charge of grand larceny.

 Meanwhile, her former husband, Melih Dincer, pleaded guilty to one charge of falsely reporting an incident, a misdemeanor, and was sentenced to one year in jail.

East Hampton Village

Police were called to a Further Lane house on the morning of Jan. 26. “A deer was stuck in the fence,” the police report said. Two officers were able to free the frightened animal, “who was not injured and ran off.”

There were several police reports related to the general confusion after the snowstorm last week. A CVS employee called police on Jan. 28, complaining about a car that had been parked in the lot off Gay Lane for three days and was hampering snow-removal efforts.

A Wyandanch man who was stopped for allegedly speeding down Newtown Lane in East Hampton Village on Saturday evening ended up with the driver under arrest on a misdemeanor charge of drug possession. Given that motorists were being kept off the roads because of the weather this week, there were few  arrests, but one man was charged with stealing a plastic snow shovel.

Kadeem W. Outlaw, 25, was arraigned before East Hampton Town Justice Steven Tekulsky Sunday morning.

Two Springs men, neither of them a licensed driver according to East Hampton Town police, were arraigned Sunday morning on several charges, including driving while intoxicated.

Luis A. Yamba-Tenezaca, 22, was additionally charged with leaving the scene of an accident.

A Springs man who drives commercial vehicles for a living is facing a possible lifetime revocation of his driving privileges after being arrested for the fifth time on a drunken driving charge.

James D. Beckwith, 53, was arrested by East Hampton Town Police on a misdemeanor charge of aggravated driving while intoxicated late Sunday night.

Amagansett

A surveyor’s metal detector was stolen from a vehicle parked at a job site on Shore Road on Jan. 21. Joseph Welsh told police the missing DML 2000, which is used to find underground pipes and markers, was worth about $500.

East Hampton

The driver’s-side window of a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado parked outside the Bistrian gravel pit was smashed last week.

A resident of Accabonac Road, East Hampton, was arrested last Thursday afternoon on charges of drug possession.

East Hampton Village Police charged Chase Thompson Wintjen, 21, with three misdemeanors. Mr. Wintjen was approaching the end of a three-year probation sentence when he was arrested, according to statements he made during his arraignment Friday morning in East Hampton Town Justice Court.
