Amagansett

Henry Kessler said he mailed two checks to Compton Air Conditioning, both in the amount of $1,500, for work on a building in the Bronx on Sept. 8.  They had cleared by Sept. 13, but the owner of the company said he had not received them. Mr. Kessler contacted his bank.

East Hampton 

Squatters apparently have been living in a house on Three Mile Harbor Road that had been foreclosed and abandoned for several months. Sometime between Aug. 1 and Sept. 13, it appeared that people entered the house, spray-painted the walls, and made some holes in them.

D.W.I. Plus Drug Arrest

Rian J. O’Dwyer, 22, of East Hampton was behind the wheel of a 2013 Toyota Tundra traveling on Route 114 near Whooping Hollow Road on Sept. 9 at about 3:40 a.m. when East Hampton Town police said they noticed the left taillight was out. Police said the driver was speeding, had an obstructed view, and that he failed to signal a right turn.

When Josip Kostovic of Seaford came off the beach on Saturday morning, he found potato chips strewn all over his vehicle, which was parked near the Sloppy Tuna on South Emerson Avenue. He had last seen his 2000 GMC the day before at 2:20 p.m., and, he said, there had been no potato chips on it.

‘We Smoked It All Earlier’

On patrol in Sag Harbor Saturday at about midnight, Officer Janelle Spero saw a 2002 Honda Civic make an improper U-turn on Main Street, and pulled the car over. Eric Gonzalez, 21, of Calverton was behind the wheel, and the officer reported a strong odor of marijuana coming from the car.

Someone swiped two shirts from a sidewalk clothing rack in front of Flying Point Surf Boutique on Saturday afternoon. Two hours later, the person returned to pay for the shirts, worth $60 each. No charges were filed.

August Arrests Ran Gamut

A dispute between neighbors last Thursday led to fisticuffs, in which one neighbor bit, choked, and punched the other, East Hampton Town Police Detective Sgt. Dan Toia said yesterday.
