Meet the Animals

At the South Fork Natural History Museum in Bridgehampton, the Young Birders Club, for kids 8 to 18, meets on Saturday at 10 a.m. On Sunday, children 6 to 8 can get an up-close introduction to the museum’s reptiles and amphibians in a program at 10:30 a.m.

Children’s Fair     

Nearly two dozen children’s book authors will be on hand Sunday at the East Hampton Library’s free Children’s Fair at Amagansett Farm. Among them will be Billy Baldwin with “Story Glass,” Adam Osterweil with “The Baseball Card Kid,” and Oksana and Julia Zbarsky with “Do You Know Where the Freckle Goes?”     The fair will also include games, rides, crafts, bounce houses, and live performances, all taking place from 2 to 5:30 p.m. Amagansett Farm is at 555 Montauk Highway.

Camp Shakespeare

The Hamptons Shakespeare Festival’s Camp Shakespeare, a theater arts program for ages 8 to 15, will celebrate its 20th season when it gets under way on Monday in Amagansett.

The Children’s Museum of the East End will host a Friday Night Drop-Off Dance Party for children ages 3 and up next week.

Workshops, performances, camps, and events for kids from Water Mill to Montauk.

At the Parrish Art Museum in Water Mill, an award-winning dance ensemble from the Edge School of the Arts in Queens will perform classical ballet, jazz, African, tap, and hip-hop selections in a family program on Wednesday at 1:30 p.m.

Guild Hall’s KidFest summer series of performances and workshops will begin on Wednesday at 5 p.m. when Teatro SEA presents “La Cucarachita Martina,” a bilingual puppet show about a little roach looking for love. Described as a “live-action Latin puppet show rock ’n’ roll musical mash-up,” it is appropriate for children of all ages.

The Mannix Studio of Art will lead family tours and action-painting workshops at the Pollock-Krasner House and Studio in Springs on Thursdays and Fridays through Sept. 6. After learning some background on the Abstract Expressionists Jackson Pollock and Lee Krasner, participants will have a chance to paint a canvas in Pollock’s style.

The East Hampton Town Recreation Department’s multitude of summer programs for kids, from swimming to sailing to basketball and tennis, begin this week at locations across the town.

Now They’re Cooking!

Kids 3 to 6 and their grown-ups will learn how to make quick cucumber pickles in a cooking workshop on Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Children’s Museum of the East End in Bridgehampton. The cost is $19, which includes museum admission, $5 for members.
