Jemille Charlton was voted in as master of Sag Harbor’s Wamponamon Lodge No. 437 of Free and Accepted Masons of the Grand Lodge of New York on May 17.

Mr. Charlton is an active-duty member of the New York Air National Guard, holding the rank of technical sergeant.

He is the first African-American in the 165-year history of the Sag Harbor Masonic Lodge to become a master.
