Get Your Recycling Questions Answered Once and for All

Those with questions about recycling can take them to the Hampton Bays Community Center on Monday for a public forum organized by the League of Women Voters of the Hamptons. Curious about whether cereal boxes go with corrugated cardboard or paper? Or how co-mingled items are separated and sold?

“Recycling 101: With or Without a Carter” will go over the recycling process in the Town of Southampton with Christine Fetten, the town’s director of municipal works, who oversees both sustainability and waste management, and Joe Glorioso, a member of the town’s sustainable Southampton green advisory committee.

Kathleen Kirkwood, the chairwoman of the recycling and litter committee for the Town of East Hampton, will describe advances in green entrepreneurship and recent improvements in the recycling process.

“We hope that you will leave this event with a better understanding of your part in keeping our land, air, and water clean,” said Terese Wildrick of Hampton Bays, a member of the league’s natural resources committee.

Refreshments will be served before the forum. For those who wish to listen from home, Southampton Town’s SEA-TV will tape and air the program on Channel 22.
