Exploring NASA

Coming up on Friday, March 1, John Bouvier, a Southampton Town councilman, will speak at Stony Brook Southampton about his time at NASA. There and in his positions at other organizations, both private and governmental, he worked on projects ranging from engineering and robotics to saturation diving to astronaut training.

The free lecture, co-sponsored by the Montauk Observatory and the university's department of marine and atmospheric sciences, will touch on his work developing technologies used in deep-sea and in-orbit space exploration, and his involvement in missions such as the recovery of Liberty Bell 7, the Mercury 11 space capsule piloted by Virgil (Gus) Grissom. It will take place from 7:30 to 9 p.m. in Chancellors Hall.
