For Fire Prevention Week

To mark National Fire Prevention Week, the Bridgehampton Fire Department will host an open house on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. to educate residents on the basics of fire safety.

The theme of this year’s Fire Prevention Week is “Don’t Wait — Check the Date! Replace Smoke Alarms Every 10 Years.” Department members will demonstrate how to test and operate smoke detectors and extinguish a kitchen or grill fire, and will show how thermal-imaging cameras and other gear are used.

Emergency medical service providers will offer free blood pressure readings, and fire trucks and ambulances will be on display. Volunteers will cook up hamburgers and hot dogs at noon for all who attend. The firehouse is on School Street.
