Protection Order Issued

East Hampton Town police were called to a Springs-Fireplace Road, Springs, house on the afternoon of Sept. 25 in response to a report of domestic violence.

Early that morning, according to police, Patrick J. Orlando, 45, punched and kicked his wife, Kelly Orlando, causing multiple injuries including a broken nose, and leaving her in substantial pain. Police said he also choked her for 15 or 20 seconds, during which time she could not breathe.

Mr. Orlando was charged with misdemeanor assault and obstruction of breathing. At his arraignment the next morning, East Hampton Town Justice Lisa R. Rana issued an order of protection for his wife, as well as her three pets.

Mr. Orlando was released without bail, due to his ties in the area, but with a date on Justice Rana’s criminal calendar. Justice Rana told him he could return to the house once, escorted by police, to retrieve his belongings.
