Scott Ward Freese, an East Hampton native who had moved to Sebastian, Fla., died on Feb. 3 in Sebastian at the age of 57. Mr. Freese had heart problems for many years and diabetes.

He was born at Southampton Hospital on July 13, 1958, to Ward Alfred Freese and the former Judith Ann Lens, and grew up in East Hampton, graduating in 1976 from East Hampton High School. He went on to the State University at Delhi, where he earned an associate’s degree.

Mr. Freese was married on April 10, 1983, to Lorrie Purcell. The couple lived in Union, N.J., where they raised their daughter, Jennifer, and spent weekends at the shore at Ortley Beach.

Mr. Freese worked for Wakefern, a supplier for ShopRite supermarkets in New Jersey, and was a business administrator for Local 1262, his union. He collected baseball cards and enjoyed fishing.

After Mr. Freese’s divorce in the early 1990s, he returned to Long Island and settled in East Patchogue. He became an assistant in the Suffolk County district attorney’s office in 1996, working there until 2012, when his health began to decline. He moved to Sebastian to be near his parents and sister, Susan Salaver, who survive.

He is also survived by his daughter, Jennifer Freese of Clark, N.J., and two brothers, Ken Freese of East Hampton and William Freese of Johns Creek, Ga.

The Rev. Donald D. Thomas is to conduct a service on April 2 at the Friendship Christian Community Church in Sebastian, of which Mr. Freese was a member. Contributions in his memory have been suggested to the church’s Memorial Garden Fund, 611 Schumann Drive, Sebastian, Fla. 32958.
