Out of the Closet, a vintage clothing store in Water Mill, will close its doors on Wednesday and is having a major sale leading up to its last day.

The co-owners, Lucy Martin and Ruth Chernaik, announced on Sept. 5 that everything in the store has been marked down by 50 to 75 percent. The store was originally in Bridgehampton for about 20 years before moving to Water Mill in 2011.

“Traffic has been way down from our Bridgehampton location here in Water Mill,” Ms. Martin said in the announcement. “Our collection is better than ever, but we are not moving our inventory.” According to the co-owners, their merchandise includes clothing dating back to the Victorian era up through the 1970s. It “would be the envy of a museum collection,” they said. Over the years, they said, celebrities including Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen, Katy Perry, and Rachel Zoe have shopped at Out of the Closet.

The shop is at 720 Montauk Highway in Water Mill and is generally open from noon to 7 p.m. each day.
