“We improved greatly in the second half, especially in doubles,” said the coach, Jim Nicoletti, after the East Hampton High School boys tennis team had defeated Mattituck 4-3 here on May 7, finishing up the regular season at 7-3 in league play, and 9-7 over all. “I’d like to have another crack at some of those teams we lost to in nonleague matches.”
Game-Ending Balk Gives Pierson Whalers a Victory

The Pierson Whalers came from behind to upset League VIII’s top-ranked team, Port Jefferson, 4-3, in extra innings, on May 7 at Mashashimuet Park in Sag Harbor. Port Jefferson’s pitcher was called for a game-ending balk in the bottom of the eighth inning with Kyle McGowin on third base.

The East Hampton High School boys track team concluded its regular season with two wins, beating Islip, 79-58 at Islip, on May 5, and defeating Eastport-South Manor, 107-31 at home, last Thursday.

Bonackers Almost Tease Out a Victory

Two days after falling 17-3 to Division II’s third-ranked team, Mount Sinai, on May 6, the East Hampton High School boys lacrosse team almost beat the division’s fourth-ranked team, Elwood-John Glenn, but lost 12-11.
