Singles often were outs, foul balls often were fair, runners stole home, and time flew by as the New York Mutuals Base Ball Club and the Sag Harbor Nines turned the clock back almost 150 years at Mashashimuet Park on Sunday, playing by the rules of base ball that prevailed in 1864.

The Honeymooners
The constant southwesterly blew hard in Hamilton, pinning Union Jack like a pressed shirt and hurrying the low-lying cumulus cover farther out into the Atlantic. The last of the clouds looked torn and faded, like weathered ghosts too weak to resist the wind. Still, in their spite, they managed to cast their final shadows on Front Street, blanketing Bermuda’s capitol city in a zebra print of simultaneous light and dark.
Mikey Russell Is Named to Class A All-State Team

Mikey Russell, who led the East Hampton High School boys basketball team to its first state Final Four appearance in 19 years, and who was Newsday’s Long Island player of the year, has been named to the Class A all-state team by the New York Sportswriters Association.
