Sweet Jewels of the Bay
Kareem Massoud, the winemaker at Paumanok Vineyards in Jamesport, celebrated his birthday a week ago today. His wife, Marilee Foster, prepared him a memorable meal: freshly harvested bay scallops, bass caught by his brother-in-law, some of Marilee’s exquisite greens and fingerling potatoes, and a chocolate-chocolate cake made by his mother, Ursula. The feast was all washed down with Paumanok’s crisp Chenin Blanc. Delicious. Especially the scallops. So delicious that when they went out to dinner the following night Kareem wanted bay scallops again.
