Kobe Beach Club
Jeffrey Chodorow, the restaurant owner behind the China Grill, Asia de Cuba, and numerous other restaurants, is to open the Kobe Beach Club, an outpost of his New York City steak house, the Kobe Club, on Three Mile Harbor Road in East Hampton where the nightclub Resort, most recently Flirt, was located. This year the nightclub is to be called Lily Pond.
Kobe Beach Club will open on June 7 and serve dinner Wednesday through Sunday from 6 to 11 p.m. A late-night menu will be offered on Fridays and Saturdays from 11:30 p.m. to 2 a.m.
Fish and Baked Goods
Goodies made by David Cohen of David’s Cakes are now available at Stuart’s Seafood market in Amagansett.
Claws on Wheels, a fish market and takeout shop in East Hampton, is now open seven days a week. Hours are from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday through Wednesday; closing time is at 8 p.m. Thursday through Saturday.
Family Recipes
On Friday, June 6, the authors of “Our Southampton: Family Stories and Food Traditions,” Nina Kennedy and Jackie Scerbinski, will be at the Rogers Mansion on Meeting House Lane in Southampton for a book signing and tasting of the recipes included in the volume. Those who contributed their stories and family recipes will also be on hand at the free event from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Also that day at the Rogers Mansion, the East End Home Arts Guild will present a “strawberry social” class, with instruction in how to make the perfect strawberry shortcake, strawberry soup, and a green salad in honor of the strawberry season. The program, also from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., costs $60, $50 for guild members.
The Lodge Delivers
At the Lodge restaurant, next door to the juice bar, frozen drinks are served on the outdoor garden patio. The Lodge also offers a delivery service for takeout dinners.
Juice Bar Open
The Juicy Naam, a juice bar and organic produce booth on Race Lane in East Hampton, has opened for the season. Besides juices and smoothies, it offers raw food dishes and presents yoga classes and other events.
Pasta for the Family
Sunday is pasta day at Michael’s restaurant at Maidstone Beach. Italian dishes for the family are offered for $19.95 between 3 and 6 p.m.
Slow Food Event
Alan Katz, the chairman of Slowfood USA, an organization that promotes the use of local, organic, and seasonal products, will be on hand for an event at the American Hotel in Sag Harbor on Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m.
A number of chefs from restaurants hereabouts will contribute dishes, including Mike Rozzi of Della Femina, Kevin Penner of Wei Fun, James Gee of Cittanuova, John Baron of Nick and Toni’s, Jason McClain of East Hampton Point, Andrew Engle of the Laundry, Matthew Birnstill of the 1770 House, and James Carpenter, who cooks at the American Hotel. They will prepare hors d’oeuvres. Tom Schaudel, whose restaurant, the Jedediah Hawkins House, is on the North Fork, will participate as well. Local wines will be served. Tickets cost $25 at the door.
Cooking Classes
Tonight, a class in Greek cooking will be offered by the Loaves and Fishes Viking Cooking School in Bridgehampton from 6 to 9 p.m. It costs $99.
Tomorrow night from 6 to 9, there will be a class on cooking for a special occasion or date. It costs $119.
On Sunday at the cooking school, dishes typical of a Japanese steak house will be prepared during a 1 to 4 p.m. class that costs $99. A steak house workshop session will take place from 6 to 9 on Wednesday night. Admission is $109.
Next Thursday, tapas and paella will be the topic during a 6 to 9 p.m. class that costs $89. On Friday, June 6, a class titled Date Night in the City is scheduled for 6 to 9 p.m. It costs $109.
