"Free Solo," which was screened as part of Hamptons Doc Fest in December, won the best documentary feature film at the Academy Awards on Sunday night.

The film is about Alex Honnold, who climbs the face of El Capitan in Yosemite National Park without a rope. The directors of the film, Jimmy Chin and Elizabeth Chai Vasarhelyi, are husband and wife. Mr. Chin is a professional climber, skier, and mountaineer and has led expeditions to all seven continents and documented many climbs.

When winning the audience award at the Hamptons Doc Fest, they said they were "thrilled to win an award in place that is so special to us."

Several films that were screened at the Hamptons International Film Festival were also honored with nominations and wins by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, including "Green Book," which won best picture and best supporting actor for Mahershala Ali, and Olivia Colman, who won best actress for her role as Queen Anne in "The Favourite."
