Bostwick's Will Be Back on the Harbor

The owners of Bostwick's Chowder House in East Hampton announced this week that they will be opening a second restaurant, Bostwick's on the Harbor, on Three Mile Harbor in late May or early June.

It will be a homecoming of sorts for Kevin Boles and Chris Eggert, the owners, who had operated a previous incarnation of Bostwick's at the same location, 39 Gann Road, between 1995 and 2009. The popular restaurant had scores of loyal customers who flocked to the spot for its crowd-pleasing fare and sunset view. So devoted were some of them that in the restaurant's later years on the harbor, one took it upon himself each spring to hang a countdown sign below the Bostwick's sign on Three Mile Harbor Road, letting fellow fans know exactly how many days remained before they could again take in a sunset from Bostwick's.

More recently, the spot had been occupied by Bay Kitchen Bar, whose owners are opening a new restaurant at the former Princess Diner in Southampton.

Like its counterpart on Pantigo Road, Bostwick's on the Harbor will serve seafood-centric fare. The menu is still being developed, the owners said in their announcement, but they plan to offer entrees such as steamed lobsters, lobster rolls, crab cakes, surf and turf, and seafood pasta. The decor, they said, will retain the casual atmosphere of Bostwick's Chowder House, but will be a bit more refined.
