John F. Shea Jr., a 25-year resident of South Faraday Street in Montauk, died at Southampton Hospital on Nov. 1 after a long illness. He was 71.
Mr. Shea spent 32 years, beginning in 1964, working at the AT&T/Bell Labs, and then went on to be director of operations at Bellcore in New Jersey.
After his retirement, Mr. Shea acted as a guide for the Montauk Historical Society at the Montauk Lighthouse, and also on the Montauk Trolley. He also worked for the past seven years for the East Hampton Town Parks and Recreation Department at the Montauk Playhouse and the tennis courts off West Lake Drive, where, according to his
