Time For Review
With so-called sport utility vehicles accounting for more than half the automobiles sold in the United States in November, the writing on the wall or, more accurately, the line in the sand seems to have been drawn for beach driving.

Good News, For Now
Thanks to a worldwide glut, aided by a deep recession in Asia, the price of oil continues to slide. Adjusted for inflation, a barrel of oil today is selling for about the same price as in the early 1940s. In real dollars, oil costs as much as it did in the late '70s. And, citing the difficulty of making money, the oil giants Exxon and Mobil, separated when John D. Rockefeller's Standard Oil empire was broken up, are clamoring to be reunited.

The Falling Leaves
Chris Russo, East Hampton Town's Highway Superintendent, is trying to exert some control over what he says has become a leaf-pickup program that has spun out of control.
