The writer had a change of venue the day after Thanksgiving, about 100 miles from his usual beat. He was in the northern third of Manhattan's Central Park, pushing a pram with grandson Matthew as passenger, walking beside wife Julie and Matthew's mother, Vicki.

Promise Unfulfilled
Well, that's about it for striped bass. There are reports of gannets still diving here and there, on herring, presumably. But when Montauk's Lazy Bones party boat makes plans to begin its winter hibernation, you know it must be over.
