ORAL HISTORY At a private reception on Saturday at 5 p.m., the History Project will present the first of its oral history interviews to the Long Island-Pennypacker Collection of the East Hampton Library.Tony Prohaska of East Hampton and Martha Kalser of Amagansett, partners in the project, have been interviewing older residents of East Hampton Town and taping their stories for posterity.
On Saturday they will present transcriptions of 113 interviews, including 16 videos, as well as 232 photographs and other illustrative material donated by their subjects. This presentation focuses on the early 20th century.
The Pennypacker Collection already includes local maps, newspapers, diaries, wills, whaling logs, and books from America's earliest days.
