East Hampton Town
350th Anniversary Celebration

350 YEARS OF INSHORE FISHING
The East Hampton Town Marine Museum, where we are gathered today, was founded in order to preserve the traditions of the baymen, the inshore fishermen. Inshore commercial fisheries are found in all the coastal regions of the United States; in the Chesapeake area, the fishermen are called watermen.

DOMINY CRAFTSMEN
Charles F. Hummel, curator emeritus of the Winterthur Museum in Delaware, will present a 350th anniversary lecture called "Actually Earning a Living: The Dominy Craftsmen of East Hampton" on Saturday, at 4:30 p.m. at Guild Hall.

CAUGHT IN THE NET
One summer day Ted [Lester] informed the crew that they were going to make the Napeague Station set, although they had been doing well farther east. His son Stewart was with the crew that day, and as they were hauling Stewart suddenly stopped winching on his end, where he was working with Jimmy Reutershan.

A CHILD TRAGEDY
he author of this childhood reminiscence was born in 1849.
