Vanished Places
Many old East Hampton families still have pieces of silverware made by Col. David Hedges (1779-1857) in this small, 17th-century building, which occupied a site on Main Street near where the East Hampton Library and The East Hampton Star now stand. In 1901, the building was moved up Edwards Lane and converted for use as a cottage. A number of later additions have obscured the structure within a larger house.
